After a challenging defeat the previous day, Illinois Wesleyan University's baseball team was unable to recover in their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game against Elmhurst University on May 1. The Titans' overall record fell to 22-13, with an 11-7 standing in the conference. Meanwhile, Elmhurst improved to 10-26 overall and 4-13 within the league.

The game began quietly until the second inning when sophomore Jack Flagg from River Forest hit a single out to right field. He then stole second base, setting up a scoring chance for sophomore Tommy Willard of Downers Grove, who drove Flagg home with a hit to center field.

In the fourth inning, freshman John Philip Ferraro from Oak Park singled to left field. Flagg followed with another single, advancing Ferraro to second base. Junior William Duff's groundout allowed both runners to advance further. A subsequent groundout by sophomore Jimmy Martin enabled Ferraro to score, giving Illinois Wesleyan a temporary 2-0 lead.

Elmhurst responded with one run in the bottom of the fourth and tied the game at 2-2 by scoring again in the fifth inning.

Ferraro initiated another offensive push for IWU in the sixth inning with a single, soon joined on base by Flagg after his own single. Junior Tristan Figus reached first on a fielder's choice play that saw Flagg thrown out at second but advanced Ferraro to third base. Martin then singled again, bringing Ferraro home before Figus scored on junior Cade Tomhave's sacrifice fly, extending IWU's lead to 4-2.

Senior Dino Biggers contributed his second home run of the season shortly afterward, pushing IWU ahead at 5-2.

However, Elmhurst seized control late in the game by scoring eight runs across the seventh and eighth innings and secured a comeback victory over Illinois Wesleyan with a final score of 10-5 after nine innings.

The Titans are scheduled for an upcoming three-game series against North Park University from May 3 through May 4. They will face off at North Park's Chicago venue on Friday for two games at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., followed by Saturday’s match starting at 4 p.m.
