Seniors Louis Perona and Jacob Cyrus, along with sophomores Will Davidsmeier and Tommy Willard from the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team, have been recognized as College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees. The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 4.

To qualify for this accolade, student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and maintain a grade point average of 3.50 or higher while participating in 90 percent or starting 67 percent of their team's games.

He ranked second on the team with 74 total bases and maintained a .494 on-base percentage across all 39 games he started. Perona also earned Second Team All-CCIW honors.

Cyrus contributed both offensively and defensively for the team. He posted a .279 batting average with eight doubles and two home runs among his 36 hits. On the mound, he struck out 43 batters over nine appearances totaling 32 innings.

Davidsmeier, an education major, served as one of the Titans' primary pitchers this season. He recorded an ERA of 1.82 over 12 appearances, achieving a record of six wins against one loss.

Willard started infield positions in 28 games for IWU while pursuing an accounting degree. He maintained a .351 batting average with two doubles and one home run among his hits.

Both Willard and Perona will advance to the ballot for Academic All-America honors set to be announced by CSC on July 2.
