Supporters of Illinois Wesleyan University are set to continue their annual tradition of contributing to the All In for Wesleyan campaign, a fundraising initiative that has made significant impacts over the past decade. Scheduled for Tuesday, April 11, the campaign aims to support student scholarships, research, experiential learning, technology updates, and athletic programming at IWU.
The previous year's campaign saw 3,335 donors raise $2,391,253 in just one day. This year marks the tenth anniversary of All In for Wesleyan with the theme "A Decade of Difference," celebrating a decade-long tradition that has raised over $10.5 million from 25,000 donors since its inception in 2013.
Val Hawkins '09, Director of Annual Giving at IWU expressed enthusiasm about this milestone: "It's amazing to see our IWU alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends come together year after year to give back to a place so near and dear to them. On April 11, we'll kick-start the next decade of difference with a special 10th birthday celebration for All In."
To encourage participation throughout the day, several anonymous donors have pledged funds. One donor promises $1 million once 3,500 donations are made. Another donor from the class of 1970 is matching gifts up to $10,000 for donations directed towards diversity scholarships benefiting student leaders from diverse backgrounds.
This year introduces a new challenge—the Hourly Most Gifts Challenge—sponsored by a donor who will contribute $10,000 each hour to university areas receiving the most gifts.
On-campus events are also planned for students on April 11. These include treats in various campus centers from morning until mid-morning; Kona Ice and caricatures on Eckley Quadrangle in the afternoon; and an evening birthday bash with a balloon drop at Hansen Student Center.
The official All In for Wesleyan website will become active at midnight on April 11 at www.iwu.edu/all-in. Supporters are encouraged to share their involvement on social media using #AllInForWesleyan.
