The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team has achieved a significant milestone by being ranked eighth in the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings. This rating evaluates 215 Division III programs and was released on November 17, highlighting the efforts of Lance Ringler, Larry Duffie, and the Golfweek Sagarin Rankings team.
Leading the rankings is Emory University, followed by Pomona-Pitzer and Williams in second and third place, respectively. Other teams ahead of Illinois Wesleyan include St. Catherine in fourth, George Fox in fifth, Carnegie Mellon in sixth, and Washington & Lee in seventh. Carleton and Redlands complete the top ten.
Throughout their fall season, Illinois Wesleyan secured three top-two finishes across five tournaments. Notably, they claimed victory at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship for the 18th time. The Titans also finished as runners-up at both the IWU Fall Classic and Mad Dawg Invite before earning an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship. At the Golfweek October Classic, they placed fourth against strong competition.
Emma Thorman from IWU distinguished herself as CCIW medalist and received recognition as golfer of the week within her league. Additionally, Thorman along with Lexi Onsrud, Macy Ludwig, and Jadyn Spinks were honored with All-CCIW accolades.
The Titans are scheduled to resume their season in spring with official competitions beginning in March.
