Ian Turnbull earns second team all-conference honors for second year

Sophomore Ian Turnbull from Bloomington, Illinois, has been named to the Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) for the second consecutive season. The announcement was made by the league office on May 1. Freshman Chase Tomecki from Downers Grove, Illinois, received Illinois Wesleyan University's CCIW RESPECT award.

Turnbull played at the top position in both singles and doubles for his team. In singles play, he achieved a 3-5 record in CCIW matches with victories against Elmhurst, Millikin, and Wheaton. Partnering with senior Ryan McCoy from Arlington Heights, Illinois, at No. 1 doubles, they secured a 2-6 record in league play with wins over Millikin and Elmhurst.

During the 2023-24 season, Turnbull was recognized as CCIW Player of the Week twice on February 20 and April 2.

The Titans are set to compete against Augustana in the CCIW Tournament Quarterfinals on May 2 at Carroll University.

In other recognitions within the conference: Arthur Hermange from Augustana was named CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year; David Larraga from Augustana received First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year honors; Brady Lindsley from Carthage was awarded Coach of the Year.

The All-CCIW First Team includes Arthur Hermange (Augustana), Adrian Gomez (Carroll), Myles Krzewinski (Carthage), Francisco Silveira (Carthage), Matthew Sengphommachanh (North Central), and Ramon Vilarroig Martinez (North Central).

Joining Turnbull on the All-CCIW Second Team are David Larraga (Augustana), Daniel Ezcurra (Carroll), Elios Briand (Carthage), Wyatt Crowell (North Central), and Jack Booker (Wheaton).

Recipients of the CCIW RESPECT Award include Deepak Vayara (Augustana), Andrew LaBelle (Carroll), Victor Pimenta (Carthage), Emiliano Montenegro-Galarza (Elmhurst), Chase Tomecki (Illinois Wesleyan), Cole Phillips (Millikin), Matt Crossland (North Central), and Graham Shelton (Wheaton).
