After achieving a record-breaking start with a victory over Rockford University, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to continue their road games. The Titans, who currently hold a 4-0 record, will face Aurora University on Thursday, January 23rd. The match will take place at Thornton Gymnasium and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
In their recent match against the Regents, the Titans secured a win in straight sets. Freshman Gavin Rohlwing led the team with six kills and achieved an impressive .750 attack percentage. He also recorded four aces and three blocks. Sophomore Brenden Reutter contributed four aces, nine assists, three kills, two digs, and one block. Senior Vince DiCosola provided 12 assists while junior Jace Milka had seven digs.
The IWU offense has been driven by senior Ryan Myers and freshman Gavin Rohlwing, each with 25 kills in the first four matches. Freshman Ethan Kuziela follows closely with 24 kills. Reutter leads in aces with seven, while Kuziela and Rohlwing have five each.
The Titans' offense has been coordinated by three setters this season. DiCosola leads with 51 assists followed by Reutter's 34 and Kuziela's 21. Defensively, Milka tops the list with 24 digs; Myers follows with 21 digs. At the net, senior Jake Kougan leads with 13 blocks.
This upcoming game marks the third meeting between IWU and AU since their initial encounter in 2022 when Aurora won the opener. Last season, IWU evened the series by sweeping Aurora. In that match, now-assistant coach Mike Eastman set a program record for most kills in a three-set match with 17.
Aurora University will begin their season against Illinois Wesleyan University on Thursday.
