The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams concluded their participation in the St. Francis Fighting Chance meet with notable performances on May 11, 2024, in Joliet, Illinois.
In the men's 800-meter run, junior Ernie Waterson achieved the second-fastest time with a finish of 1:54.70. Sophomore Seth Hamerski placed 24th among 49 competitors. In the women's category, freshman Peyton Stinger finished 25th out of a field of 50 with a time of 2:20.61.
The men's 400-meter race saw three Titans competing. Junior Alex Harvey secured ninth place with a time of 50.17 seconds, while sophomore Joel Weber and freshman Tyrice Bender finished in the 13th and 23rd positions respectively.
Sophomore Evan Lowder claimed fifth place in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.84 seconds, while freshman Reece Dusek came in at the 31st position.
Sophomore Isaac Whitaker represented IWU in field events, tying for fourth place in the pole vault by clearing a height of 4.55 meters (14'11.25").
The Illinois Wesleyan team is preparing to compete at Augustana College's Midwest Twilight Qualifier from May 15-16 as they aim to improve their qualifying marks for the upcoming NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships scheduled for May 23-25.
