Illinois Wesleyan heads to PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational after strong home performance

The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams are set to participate in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, hosted by the University of Louisville. The event will take place on January 31 and February 1, with competitions starting at 10 a.m. ET in Louisville, Kentucky.

Following a successful performance at the Jason Dennis Invitational on January 24, where they secured 20 event wins, the Titans have decided to rest much of their team this week. However, a select group of athletes will represent Illinois Wesleyan at the upcoming meet.

For the men's team, six individuals will compete in various events along with participation in the 4-by-400m relay. Senior Ernie Waterson will run in the 800m race, while Alex Harvey is set for the 60m hurdles. Juniors Evan Lowder and CJ Ladewig will compete in the 400m and weight throw respectively. Sophomores Reece Dusek and Matt Lindberg are slated for the 400m and high jump events. Additionally, Noah Sadowski will join Harvey, Lowder, and Dusek for the relay.

On the women's side, five athletes are scheduled to compete individually. Seniors Emma McGrath and Carlyssa King will participate in the mile and weight throw respectively. Junior Adriana Crabtree is also competing in the mile event. Sophomore Imani Ogunribido will take part in the triple jump while freshman Alex Reinhart is set for the 800m race.

Notably, three athletes improved their standings within Illinois Wesleyan's program history during their recent performances at home. Imani Ogunribido achieved a school record with her triple jump mark of 12.28 meters (40'3.50"), placing her fourth nationally among Division III competitors this season. CJ Ladewig's weight throw of 16.97 meters (55'8.25") ranks fifth historically for IWU men’s track and field as well as fifth within their conference this season; it stands at position thirty-two nationwide. Carlyssa King's weight throw reached a distance of 17.01 meters (55'9.75"), ranking third historically for IWU women’s track and field programs as well as second within their conference this season; it holds fifteenth place nationally.

Spectators attending this weekend's meet can purchase admission tickets at entry points where wristbands for each day’s competition will be distributed accordingly; live results from these contests are accessible online through iwusports.com once concluded.
