Illinois State University gymnasts Reese Grolla and Jaly Jones have been recognized with Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) weekly honors following their performances in a recent meet against Northern Illinois. The event, held last Friday, saw the Redbirds achieve a season-best score of 196.150, marking the fourth-highest team score in the program's history.
Reese Grolla was awarded the MIC Performance of the Week for her outstanding performance on the balance beam. The sophomore from Calgary achieved a personal-best score of 9.900 and also tied her career best on bars with a score of 9.850, securing first place in both events.
Jaly Jones, a junior transfer from Williamsburg, Iowa, earned her third consecutive MIC Newcomer of the Week honor. Her notable contributions included an eighth-place finish on floor with a score of 9.750 and tying for eighth on beam with a 9.700.
The Redbirds are scheduled to compete again this Friday in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where they will face Southeast Missouri State in another Midwest Independent Conference dual meet at Houck Field House starting at 6:30 p.m.
