The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams have qualified three athletes for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships. The event will take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, from May 23 to May 25. The NCAA released the official list of qualifiers on Friday, May 17.
Freshman Imani Ogunribido from Hanover Park, Illinois, who previously achieved a Second Team All-American performance at the indoor championships in March, will compete in the women's triple jump. Ogunribido secured her spot with a leap of 12.30 meters (40'4.25") at the CCIW Outdoor Championships, breaking the conference meet record and ranking sixth nationally.
Junior Carlyssa King from Decatur, Illinois, earned her first NCAA appearance in the women's hammer throw with a personal-best throw of 53.05 meters (174') at the conference meet. Her performance ranks her 19th in the national field.
Sophomore Evan Lowder from Bloomington, Illinois, returns to the national championship stage after receiving Second Team All-American honors at last year's Indoor Championships in the men's 400-meter race. Lowder qualified early this season with a time of 47.14 seconds at the Huntsman Family Invite on April 6.
The competition schedule includes Illinois Wesleyan's participation starting with the men's 400m prelims on Friday, May 24 at 5:15 p.m. ET. The women's hammer throw is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. ET followed by the women's triple jump at 3:45 p.m. ET and concluding with the men's 400m finals on Saturday at 5:20 p.m. ET.
