The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams concluded their final meet before the 2024 Division III Outdoor National Championships. The Titans participated in three events at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier on Thursday, May 16, in Rock Island, Illinois. The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association will announce the official list of NCAA qualifiers tomorrow, May 17.
Freshman Peyton Stinger from Wonder Lake, Illinois, competed in the women's 800-meter run. She finished ninth with a time of 2:20.54, just one second shy of her personal best this season.
Imani Ogunribido from Hanover Park, Illinois, who had already secured her spot for nationals at a previous event, participated in the women's triple jump. She achieved first place in the invite section with a leap of 12.08 meters (39'7.75").
In the men's 4-by-400m relay, junior Alex Harvey from Galesburg, Illinois; sophomores Joel Weber from Roanoke, Illinois; Evan Lowder from Bloomington, Illinois; and freshman Reece Dusek from Peoria, Illinois finished eighth among 21 relays. Their time was recorded as 3:14.01.
Illinois Wesleyan University now awaits the release of the final qualifying list by USTFCCCA and NCAA on May 17. The Division III Outdoor National Championships are scheduled for May 23-25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
