FOIA Request to City of Pontiac Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at McLean County Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Pontiac. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
Our request includes a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date. We are seeking specific details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name.
In addition to this, we have also requested for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The fields we are interested in for these active permits are identical to those in the previous request: type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and holding public institutions accountable through our reporting work, we believe that access to these public records is essential. Therefore, we have requested a fee waiver as per our eligibility as media professionals.
