Woodland Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met Oct. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of the Woodland CUSD#5 held a Regular Meeting on October 15, 2024 at 6:00 pm.  The meeting was called to order by Eric Sass. 

It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Alison Wissen to approve Jeremy Adams as secretary pro-temp for the meeting. Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried

Answering roll call were: 

Jeremy Adams, Eric Sass, Eric Perhach, Dan Reinmann, Alison Wissen

Absent: Chad Gilkerson and Rebecca Sterling

Also, present were:  Dr. Ryan McGuckin, Superintendent; Mike Hoekstra, Facility Director;  Dan Borio Technology Director

CONSENT AGENDA

It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann that the Board of Education approve the Consent Agenda.  Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

Approval of the open and closed session minutes for the September 17, 2024 Special Board Meeting-Budget Hearing and September 17, 2024 Regular Board Meeting

  • Approval of payment of Unit #5 vendor bills 
  • Approval of monthly Imprest expenditures
  • Approve Activity Account Report

12.1  It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann to approve the appointment of Chad Gilkerson as IASB Delegate for the 2024 Board Convention

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

12.2 Discussion – Next Month Vote

12.3 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann to approve Resolution abating the tax heretofore levied for the year 2024 to pay debt service on General Obligation School Bonds (Alternative Revenue Source), Series 2019B, of Community Unit School District Number 5, Livingston and LaSalle Counties, Illinois

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

12.4 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann to approve resolution authorizing a supplemental tax levy to pay the principal of and interest on outstanding limited bonds of the district.

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

12.5 It was moved by Dan Reinmann and seconded by Eric Perhach to approve the FY25 School Maintenance Grant

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann to enter executive session at 6:34 PM to consider the following:

The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity.  5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1).      

Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees.  5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9)

Discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as mandated by Section 2.06.  5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21).  

Student disciplinary cases.  5 ILCS 120/2©(9)

It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Alison Wissen to exit out of executive session

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

14.1  It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann to approve the executive session minutes

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

14.2  It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Alison Wissen to approve destruction of closed session recordings up to March of 2023.

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

14.3  It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann to approve closed session minutes remaining closed due to the sensitivity of the minutes  

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

14.4 It was moved by Jeremy Adams and seconded by Alison Wissen to approve Juden Koncor as classroom aide for the 2024-25 school year

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

14.5 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Eric Sass to approve lunchroom/recess monitors as presented

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

14.6 No Motion Made

14.7 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Dan Reinmann to approve the 12-month employee pay structure as presented

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

14.8 It was moved by Jeremy Adams and seconded by Alison Wissen to approve Kimberly Rossman to retire following the 2027-28 school year

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.

18.0  It was moved by Jeremy Adams and seconded by Alison Wissen to adjourn

Roll call:  all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays.  The motion carried.
