Illinois Wesleyan falls to North Central in women's tennis

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team faced North Central College on Saturday, October 12, in Naperville, Illinois. The Titans were defeated 7-0 by the Cardinals. This result leaves IWU with a record of 6-6 overall and 2-6 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play. Meanwhile, North Central improved to 5-1 in league action.

The competition began with doubles matches. Sophomore Carly Edwards from Metamora Township and freshman Katie Van Heuklon from Normal West secured a win for the Titans at No. 3 doubles, defeating Kate Herlihy and Kayla McSweeney of North Central with a score of 6-2.

In another doubles match, Kate Christian from Washington Christian and Gabi Lipske from Mundelein competed at No. 2 but lost narrowly with a score of 7-5. In singles play at No. 5, Christian took the first set against Herlihy but was eventually overcome as Herlihy won the next two sets.

This match marks the end of Illinois Wesleyan's fall schedule. The team will return to action on March 2nd when they host Cornell College.
