Shirk Center | Illinois Wesleyan Titans
The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team is preparing for the Cru Classic in Belton, Texas. The ninth-ranked Titans will face LeTourneau University on December 29 and host University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) on December 30.
Illinois Wesleyan holds a 9-1 record and recently defeated No. 2 WashU with an 84-68 victory at the Shirk Center. LeTourneau enters the game with a 10-2 record, having won their last three games, including a victory over Pacific Lutheran University. UMHB has a 9-3 record after splitting games at the Don Lane Classic.
Live coverage of the games will be available through live stream and radio broadcast by Eric Stock and Bob Quillman on WESN.
"DEJA TWO: The Green and White defeated No. 2 WashU in convincing fashion Thursday, Dec. 19, as the Titans never trailed in the 84-68 win over the Bears," noted in previous match summaries.
Sophomore Mason Funk has been performing well since completing his exams, averaging significant points and rebounds per game. His recent performance earned him CCIW weekly honors.
"SPLASH CITY: The Titans converted a season-high 13 three-pointers in their win over WashU," showcasing their strong shooting skills from beyond the arc.
Illinois Wesleyan's defense ranks highly nationally, limiting opponents to low field goal percentages and points per game. However, they will face challenges against LeTourneau's efficient offense.
Freshman Josh Fridman has shown improvement since December began, averaging notable points per game while maintaining high shooting accuracy.
Head coach Ron Rose continues to lead Illinois Wesleyan with an impressive career record, including multiple conference titles during his tenure.
Following their non-conference play in Texas, Illinois Wesleyan will resume CCIW play starting January 4 against Wheaton College.
