The Illinois State track and field team concluded their participation in the Larry Wieczorek Invitational on Saturday in Iowa City. Senior Lindsey Miller delivered a notable performance, clocking 7.35 seconds in the women's premier 60m dash, maintaining her third-place standing in program history.
Senior Mattison Plummer secured victory in the women's mile with a time of 4:41.12, marking the second-fastest time recorded by an athlete from Illinois State. Her achievement adds her to the top-10 list for both the women's mile and 3000m events.
The men's 4x400m relay team finished second with a time of 3:12.23, matching the second-fastest record in Illinois State's history.
In the women's 60m hurdles, junior Erin Starks and senior Corrina Courser improved their standings on the program's top-10 list with times of 8.34 and 8.48 respectively.
Freshman Zach Paul made his mark by recording a time of 6.76 seconds in the 60m dash preliminaries, placing him sixth all-time at Illinois State.
Senior Windsor Roberts achieved a season-best performance in the women's pole vault event with a height of 3.90 meters (12 feet, 9.5 inches). On the men's side, junior Charles Cruse also reached a season-best mark by clearing a height of 5 meters (16 feet, 4.75 inches).
Freshman Julian Baker impressed by finishing second in the men's mile with a time of 4:06.20.
Event winners included Zach Paul for men's prelims in the 60m dash; Lindsey Miller for women’s premier 60m; Mattison Plummer for women’s mile run; and Windsor Roberts for women’s pole vault.
Next on their schedule, the Redbirds will compete at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational hosted by Missouri from January 31 to February 1.
