Illinois State University's women's basketball team is set to continue its three-game home stand this week. The Redbirds, with a current record of 12-7 overall and 6-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), will face Southern Illinois on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Missouri State on Sunday at 2 p.m., both games taking place inside CEFCU Arena.

Sunday's game against Missouri State marks the 15th annual Play4Kay event hosted by Illinois State, benefiting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which supports the fight against cancers affecting women. "The first 500 fans will get a free pink t-shirt," according to the announcement. Additionally, cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer are invited to register for four free game tickets and access to a pre-game reception at 1 p.m. in the Legends Room at CEFCU Arena.

Last season, Illinois State was recognized with its third consecutive Play4Kay national award, winning both Division I BCS and Non-BCS national awards for three years running. The program has been named a divisional winner for nine consecutive years and raised $38,000 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund last year.

In terms of series history, Illinois State has maintained dominance over Southern Illinois with five straight victories and leads their all-time series by a margin of 67-46. Meanwhile, Missouri State holds an advantage over Illinois State in their all-time meetings with a lead of 50-36. Last season saw each team win one game when playing on their home court.

Elyce Knudsen has been named MVC Newcomer of the Week for her performance against Bradley where she scored 20 points along with four rebounds and three assists in a recent victory. This achievement adds to her previous performances where she surpassed 2,500 career points.

Friday's matchup will be Illinois State's third consecutive game against an in-state opponent this season as they hold an undefeated record of 5-0 against teams from within Illinois so far this year.
