The Illinois State men's golf team has been selected as the top contender for the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference title. This decision was made through a vote by the conference's ten head coaches, where ISU received 99 poll points and nine first-place votes.
Southern Illinois followed with 86 points, Valparaiso garnered 80 points, Murray State earned 65 points, and Bradley secured 57 points to complete the top five rankings. Belmont, which was picked seventh in the poll, received the only other first-place vote.
Illinois State's team is noted for its strong tournament performance this year. Key players include TJ Barger and Alex McCulla, both maintaining scoring averages of 73.5 over fifteen rounds this season.
The Redbirds are set to begin their spring season on Monday, February 17. They will travel to Laredo, Texas, to participate in the Border Olympics hosted by Houston at Laredo Country Club.
