Illinois State men's tennis defeats Western Michigan with strong singles performance

The Illinois State men's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over Western Michigan on Sunday at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Ill. This win brings the Redbirds' record to 4-7, while the Broncos now stand at 6-5.

In singles competition, Adrian Dibildox achieved a win at No. 2 against Adesoro with scores of 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-4. Tin Ostro defeated Pierce at No. 3 with a scoreline of 7-5, 1-6, 7-5. Christian Capacci won his match against Kajzer at No. 4 in straight sets, scoring 7-5, 6-4. Tom Bevan triumphed over Antonopoulos with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 result.

During doubles play, Illinois State's No. 1 pair Tomas Valencia and Adrian Dibildox defeated Pierce and Davison from Western Michigan. The second doubles victory came from Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett who won against Adesoro and Corwin with a score of 6-4.

Head coach Mark Klysner expressed satisfaction with the team's performance against Western Michigan: "What a match, a four-hour battle and I couldn't be more proud of the guys. WMU is a front-runner to win the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and consistently is ranked, so this is a huge win for us and one that we needed."

Next on their schedule, Illinois State will travel to Madison to face the University of Wisconsin-Madison on February 19th and then head to Lafayette for a match against Purdue on February 23rd.
