The Illinois State Redbirds are set to participate in the Dorado Beach Collegiate golf tournament in Puerto Rico from February 23 to 25. This event marks their second consecutive weekend of competition. The tournament will take place at the TPC Dorado Beach - Sugarcane Course, a par-72 course with a yardage of 7,119.

The Redbirds will be competing against several other teams, including UNCG, Loyola (Maryland), James Madison, Southern Miss, Ball State, George Mason, UConn, Army West Point, Valpo, Wofford, Winthrop, Old Dominion, Temple, Appalachian State and Bryant. Each team has been ranked nationally by Clippd.

The Redbird lineup for the shotgun start includes TJ Barger starting on the 12th hole; Alex McCulla on the 13th; Will Troy on the 14B; Pietro Pontiggia on the 14A; Aidan Cudney on the 15th and Max Faucquez as an individual starting on the 16B.

Last season was Illinois State's first time competing in this event where they placed sixth out of seventeen schools with a score of 554 over two rounds before rain canceled the final round. This score marked a program low for a 36-hole tournament.

The Sugarcane Course is noted for its challenging features despite having larger fairways and greens. It includes forced carries and deep bunkers that require precision from players. The back nine presents unique challenges with rivers and lakes creating diverse landscapes not seen in older courses in Puerto Rico.
