The Illinois Wesleyan University women's track and field team is preparing for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships. The event will take place on Friday, February 28, and Saturday, March 1, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Carthage College will host the competition at their Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.
Last year, the Titans secured four conference titles and 11 All-CCIW honors, finishing with 87 points for fourth place. Adriana Crabtree was a standout performer with victories in the mile and 3000m events and as part of the winning distance medley relay team. Imani Ogunribido claimed victory in the triple jump by nearly two feet.
This year, Crabtree holds top marks in both the mile (4:59.41) and 3000m (10:09.96), leading her competitors by several seconds. Ogunribido has set a new school record in the triple jump twice this season and leads the CCIW by over eight inches.
The Titans also have strong contenders in other events. Annalese Chudy is second in the 5000m with a time of 18:11.15, Carlyssa King ranks second in weight throw with a distance of 17.62 meters, and Alex Reinhart is second in the 800m at 2:15.25. Emma McGrath rounds out IWU's top-three seeds with a mile time of 5:09.23.
In the CCIW Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll, Illinois Wesleyan was predicted to finish fourth with 41 points. Elmhurst led the poll with 63 points and seven first-place votes, followed by North Central with 58 points and Augustana with 49 points.
Admission for adults is $10 per day, while seniors (65+), students, and children ages six to fourteen are charged $5 per day. Children five years old or younger can enter for free, as can current students from CCIW institutions who present their student ID.
