Illinois State women's basketball team secured a victory against Southern Illinois with a score of 96-88 at the Banterra Center in Carbondale, Illinois. Elyce Knudsen and Shannon Dowell were pivotal in the win, combining for 53 points.

Knudsen achieved a season-high 28 points, hitting seven three-pointers and contributing five assists and two steals. Dowell added 25 points, including 19 in the second half, along with five rebounds and three assists. Nevaeh Thomas came close to a triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Addi Martin also contributed significantly with 13 points.

The Redbirds led by 20 points at halftime but faced resistance from Southern Illinois in the second half. Despite being outscored after the break, Illinois State maintained their lead to secure the win.

The victory marked several achievements for Illinois State: it was their eighth win against in-state opponents this season and extended their winning streak over Southern Illinois to seven games. This game also secured their third consecutive 20-win season.

Illinois State showed strong performance metrics, including shooting over 50% from the field for the fourteenth time this season and winning the rebounding battle for the twentieth time.

Elyce Knudsen's performance was notable as she became just the eighth player in program history to hit seven or more threes in a single game.
