Illinois State University faced a challenging day at the Milisa Moore/Shane Lamb Tournament in Conway, Arkansas. The Redbirds were defeated by Omaha with a score of 9-1 and later lost to Central Arkansas 4-1 at Farris Field.
In the first game against Omaha, Illinois State initially took the lead in the second inning when Abby Knight walked, stole second base, and scored on Bella Wilkerson's RBI single. However, Omaha responded with four runs in the third inning and added five more in the sixth to secure their victory.
Key performances for Illinois State included Julia Larson going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and Bella Wilkerson contributing an RBI. On the mound, Gracelyn Kemp pitched 2.1 innings allowing four hits and three earned runs while Hannah Meeks gave up five earned runs over 2.2 innings.
In their second game against Central Arkansas, Illinois State tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth inning after Addison Masching singled and scored following a throwing error by Central Arkansas' pitcher. Despite this effort, Central Arkansas regained control with three runs in their half of the fifth inning.
For Illinois State, Paige McLeod pitched 4.2 innings giving up seven hits and three earned runs. Hannah Meshnick provided relief pitching without allowing any hits or walks over 1.1 innings.
The Redbirds will face Central Arkansas again on Sunday for their final game of the tournament.
