Concluding play as host of one of the significant collegiate golf tournaments this season, the fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team emerged victorious at the 38-team event on April 5. The Titans' 'B' team secured the win with a seven-stroke advantage, posting a final round score of 292 at Weibring Golf Course.
The victory for the Titan 'B' team was supported by three top-10 finishes. Raj Sethi, a senior from Chandler, Arizona, placed third with a score of two-under 141. Quinn Clifford, a senior from Chicago, Illinois, secured a share of fifth place, trailing Sethi by one stroke at 142. Junior Myles Lahart from Park Ridge, Illinois, tied for ninth with a score of 144 over 36 holes.
Freshman Michael O'Keefe from Chicago, Illinois, tied for seventh, performing as the highest scorer for the IWU 'C' team, concluding the weekend at even par.
On the IWU 'A' team, Junior Michael Spitzer of Hinsdale, Illinois, tied for 11th place. Spitzer ended the tournament two-over, posting a score of 143, with a one-over 72 in the final round. Griffin Pohl, a senior from Western Springs, Illinois, tied for 18th with a score of 147.
Illinois Wesleyan's 'A' team finished in fourth place with a combined score of 584 (292-292). Sixth-ranked Aurora University came second with a score of 582, and St. John's University narrowly edged IWU for third with a score of 583. UW-Eau Claire's Spencer Lynch claimed medalist honors, finishing at six-under par (137) and leading the 228-player field. The IWU 'C' team placed 29th.
The Titans are set to compete next in the Cochran Collegiate hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, from April 14 to 15.
