The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams participated in a busy weekend of events, beginning with notable performances at The Normal Invite in Normal, Ill., followed by impressive results during the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invite in Platteville, Wis.
During The Normal Invite, senior Carlyssa King from Decatur, Ill., achieved a new school record in the women's weight throw with a remarkable distance of 53.94 meters (176'11"). This performance surpassed the previous record held since 2018 by Karly Goodman by more than a foot and marked the top mark within the Division I competition. King's throw is also noted as the fifth-best in Division III for this season and leads the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
In men's events, senior CJ Ladewig from Palos Heights, Ill., secured a third-place finish in men's weight throw with a throw of 51.69 meters (169'7"). Sophomore Noah Sadowski from Burr Ridge, Ill., won the men's 200m collegiate B section with a time of 22.60 seconds, while his senior teammate Joel Weber from Roanoke, Ill., finished third, clocking in at 23.23 seconds.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invite saw the Illinois Wesleyan men's distance runners record career-best results. Senior Nick Fisch from Woodridge, Ill., improved his personal record by cutting nearly 12 seconds, completing the 5,000m race in 15:07.87, ranking him fifth in program history. Junior Zack Daniel from Lake Barrington, Ill., also set a personal best, reducing his time by five seconds to 15:30.50, placing him eighth on the all-time list.
Senior Annalese Chudy from Libertyville, Ill., competed in the women's 5,000m, achieving a personal best of 17:46.82, advancing her to sixth place in Illinois Wesleyan University's records.
The teams are preparing to continue their efforts in the second day of The Normal Invite, with field events starting at 10 a.m. and running events at noon on Saturday, April 12.
