Illinois Wesleyan University's senior, Lauren Huber, is positioned seventh in the heptathlon after the first day of events at the Gibson Invitational, hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. The competition, which started on Thursday, April 17, will conclude on Friday with the remaining three events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET. Open events hosted by Indiana State will take place both Friday and Saturday, with field events starting at noon ET on Friday, followed by running events at 6 p.m. ET.

Competing in a 31-person field, Huber accumulated 2865 points after completing four events. Leading the current standings is Kenli Nettles from Division I Ball State, with a total of 3348 points.

Huber commenced her performance with a 16.69-second time in the 100-meter hurdles. She then achieved a personal best in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.67m (5'5.75"), earning a fifth-place finish in this category. This result ranks third in Illinois Wesleyan's history and is the top score in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's open high jump event. It also ties for seventh nationally.

In the shot put, Huber led the event from her first throw and maintained her position with a best effort of 11.73m (38'6"), which ranks eighth in her program's history.

The day concluded with Huber posting a 26.29-second finish in the 200 meters, placing her 13th in this segment of the heptathlon.

On Friday, April 17, Huber will participate in the final events of the heptathlon—long jump, javelin, and the 800 meters. The event begins at 10 a.m. ET, with open field events starting at noon and track events at 6 p.m. ET. A complete schedule and live results will be accessible via the men's and women's track and field schedule pages on iwusports.com.
