The Illinois State baseball team achieved a decisive victory over Indiana State with an 11-4 win at Bob Warn Field. The Redbirds were led by junior Daniel Pacella and senior Judah Morris, who each hit two home runs during the game.
Pacella went 3-for-5 with a double, two home runs, and four RBIs. Morris contributed by going 2-for-4 with two home runs and two RBIs. Luke Stulga also made significant contributions, hitting a home run and securing two RBIs.
Pitcher Tyrelle Chadwick earned the win, improving his record to 5-3. He pitched five innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs. Michael Addari followed with three innings of relief, while MacCallan Conklin closed out the game.
The Redbirds took an early lead in the first inning with Pacella's two-run homer and Morris's solo shot, making it 3-0. Indiana State responded with a two-run homer in their half of the first inning. However, Illinois State scored seven consecutive runs to extend their lead to 10-2 through home runs by Pacella, Stulga, and Morris.
Indiana State added another run in the eighth inning before both teams scored once more in the ninth for a final score of 11-4.
This marked Illinois State's first road win against Indiana State since April 2022. The Redbirds hit five home runs in this game for the first time since March 2024 against Northern Illinois University.
Illinois State will continue its series against Indiana State on Friday night at Bob Warn Field.
