Indiana State secured a decisive 17-3 victory over Illinois State in the second game of their Missouri Valley Conference series on Friday. The match, held in Terre Haute, saw the Sycamores overpower the Redbirds, who now hold a record of 26-26 overall and 14-12 in the MVC. Meanwhile, Indiana State improved to 24-29 overall and 12-14 in conference play.

The game began with Judah Morris giving Illinois State an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. However, Indiana State responded by scoring six consecutive runs, including home runs in both the second and third innings. A wild pitch by Indiana State allowed another run for Illinois State in the fifth inning, bringing the score to 6-3. Indiana State then added one more run before launching a ten-run effort in the sixth inning that brought the game to its conclusion under run-rule conditions.

Judah Morris' performance was notable as he achieved his 19th home run of the season, tying him for the team lead. Sophomore Lawson Minshew made his first appearance since March 28, pitching briefly during Indiana State's sixth-inning surge. The Redbirds committed five errors during this game, marking their first instance of making five or more errors since March 2022 against Purdue.

Illinois State is set to finish their regular season with another matchup against Indiana State on Saturday at Bob Warn Field. The game is scheduled to start at noon CT.
