Despite challenging weather conditions, the Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams had a successful second day at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio. Senior Lauren Huber from Lombard, Illinois, achieved First Team All-American honors in the heptathlon. Junior Adriana Crabtree from Normal, Illinois, also reached the podium in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Additionally, junior Evan Lowder from Bloomington, Illinois, secured a spot in Saturday's 400m final.
Huber began her day with consistent long jump performances but initially fell to 14th place overall. However, she improved to 11th place after a strong javelin throw. In the final event of the heptathlon, Huber led from start to finish in the 800m race, achieving a personal-best total score of 4918 points and finishing fourth overall. This accomplishment made her the first Titan to earn First Team All-American honors during this weekend's events.
Crabtree performed well in the steeplechase final by moving up two spots into seventh place with a time of 10:36.43. This marked her second career All-American honor and her first time on the podium.
Lowder finished third in his heat of the 400m preliminary round with a time of 47.18 seconds, securing his place in Saturday's final.
The competition will continue on Saturday with senior Carlyssa King competing in the hammer throw and sophomore Imani Ogunribido participating in the triple jump before Lowder races in the 400m final.
