The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking applicants for winter snow-and-ice removal operator positions as it prepares for the upcoming cold season. These roles are essential for maintaining safe road conditions during snowstorms and icy weather.

Positions are available at various locations throughout the district. Duties include operating snowplows and other heavy equipment, spreading salt and de-icing materials, and performing basic vehicle maintenance. IDOT notes that these seasonal jobs can provide experience for those interested in transportation or public works careers while contributing to community safety during winter months.

Applicants should be dependable, able to work in cold environments, and possess a commercial driver’s license or be willing to obtain one. Details about current openings and application procedures can be found on the Illinois Department of Transportation’s website.

Bunting, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state's 106th House District, replacing previous state representative Thomas Bennett.

For more information on how to apply or requirements for these positions, visit the IDOT website.
