Illinois Wesleyan University junior Austin Johnston has been ranked fifth in Region VI in the 141-pound weight class in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's (NWCA) Men's Division III Regional Rankings. The NWCA released its season-opening regional rankings from Manheim, Pennsylvania.
Johnston has maintained a consistent presence in the NWCA polls. In the previous season, he was ranked in two of the three in-season polls. During the 2024-25 season, Johnston recorded a 17-15 win-loss record and secured seven pins. He also placed as runner-up at the Eight Man Battles at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the 131-pound weight class and finished fifth at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament.
The Illinois Wesleyan Titans will start their wrestling season on Saturday, November 8, at the Millikin Open. Their first home dual meet is set for Monday, November 17, at the Shirk Center against No. 10 North Central College.
