Q1 2020 Recap: Parolees in McLean County convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in McLean County during the first quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the McLean County Times.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were women. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 45. The younger parolee was a 34-year-old woman sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 56-year-old woman sentenced in 2011.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Tammy L. Burgess. She was convicted in 2011 when she was 47 years old. She is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
