City Manager Tim Gleason received praise from Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe for his exceptional work to advance the city during a recent council meeting where Gleason's contract was renewed.
Mwilambwe spoke highly of Gleason during the public meeting on September 26, 2022.
"I believed then, and I still believe now that it was probably one of the most impactful decisions that I made as a, as an elected official," Mwilambwe said during the meeting which was posted on YouTube. "And I know he's had to work with many different elected officials, but I have noted that an overall consistent theme every year and this year is no different. Mr. Gleason's performance has been no different as the council as a whole determined that his performance exceeded expectations."
City council voted to extend Gleason's contract. He's worked as Bloomington's city manager since July 2018. Mayor Mwilambwe was the only elected official in attendance who was in office for Gleason's initial appointment. Mwilambwe said he's done an outstanding job dealing with the city's finances and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mwilambwe highlighted some of what the council believes to be Gleason's best accomplishments in the city. That list included the revitalization of certain areas of the city, development agreements with Red Raccoon, QwikTrip, and Republic, street resurfacing projects, plus how he managed flooding in June which lead to quick solutions to the problem.
During the meeting, the council agreed to give Gleason a 3.5% raise, which they attributed to his dedication and hard work. They also hoped it would keep Gleason working for the city, since they knew he'd be able to excel in any position or organization he would work for.
