McLean County Times

There were 185 offenders released on parole during 2021 that live in Mclean County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by McLean County Times.

The data shows 165 men and 20 women were released in Mclean County. Of the parolees, five were veterans, and the median age was 37. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2020, and the oldest was a 68-year-old man convicted of a crime involving alcohol in 2018.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Shad Hammond. He was convicted of a property crime in 2003 when he was 24 years old. He is now 44.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
