Q1 2022 Recap: 8 parolees from McLean County convicted of crimes involving alcohol set for release

There were eight offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol living in McLean County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the McLean County Times.

The data shows seven men and one woman were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving alcohol, one was a veteran, and the median age was 45. The youngest parolee was a 34-year-old woman sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 60-year-old man sentenced in 2020.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Joel Volk. He was convicted in 2020 when he was 42 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
