Illinois State shines at River Forest Collegiate Invitational with multiple wins

Illinois State University continued its strong performance at the River Forest Collegiate Invitational, with the pair of Tomas Valencia and Caden Scarlett securing the Flight One Doubles Bracket Championship.

The day commenced with doubles play. Valencia and Scarlett triumphed over Washington University-St Louis's Colin Scruggs and Case Fagan by a score of 7-6 (7). In the Flight Two Doubles bracket, Adrian Dibildox and Tin Ostro were narrowly defeated by Western Michigan University's Davison and Dunsim with a score of 7-5.

In singles play, Illinois State achieved three victories. Tomas Valencia, Tin Ostro, and Tom Bevan collectively outscored their opponents 32-13, each winning in straight sets against Knezevic (WMU; 6-3, 6-4), Tam (WU; 6-4, 2-0 ret.), and Wong (MU; 6-2, 6-0).

Singles results:

#1 Draw: Valencia (ISU) def. Knezevic (UIC) 6-3, 6-4

#2 Draw: Leitner (DP) def. Dibildox (ISU) 6-1, 6-4

#3 Draw: Ostro (ISU) def. Tam (WU) 6-4, 2-0 ret.

#4 Draw: Cauvilla (EIU) def. Scarlett (ISU) 6-2, 6-2

#5 Draw: Bevan (ISU) def. Wong (MU) 6-2, 6-0

Doubles results:

#1 Draw: Valencia/Scarlett (ISU) def. Scruggs/Fagan (WU) 7-6(7)

#2 Draw: Davison/Dunsim (WMU) def. Dibildox/Ostro (ISU) 7-5

Next weekend, Illinois State will host the Seventh Annual Illinois State Invitational from September 20 to September 21 before traveling to compete in the ITA All Americans hosted by Tulsa University on September 21 to September 22.
