Illinois Wesleyan University's women's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory against Illinois College in Jacksonville, marking their first away match of the 2024-25 season. This win boosts IWU's record to 2-0, mirroring last season's start, while Illinois College now stands at 5-2.
The Titans began strong by clinching the doubles matches for an early lead. Amber Ehrlich and Olivia Bell triumphed at No. 1 doubles with a decisive 6-2 win over IC's leading pair. Meanwhile, Kate Christian and Gabi Lipske mirrored this result at No. 2 doubles.
In singles competition, Ehrlich delivered a commanding performance at No. 1 singles with set scores of 6-1, 6-0. Lipske celebrated her first collegiate singles victory in the No. 2 position with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-1. Bell added another point for IWU by winning her No. 3 singles match with sets of 6-4, 6-1. Christian ensured the team's overall victory by narrowly defeating her opponent at No. 4 singles through a tiebreaker after splitting the initial sets.
Looking ahead, IWU will face Augustana College on Friday, September 13th, at Evergreen Racquet Club as part of their ongoing College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schedule.
