City of Fairbury City Council met Nov. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber,  Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton Jr was absent. 

3. Pledge of Allegiance 

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Tipton, second by Schmidgall to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:  

A. Minutes from November 6, council meeting  

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills 

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month) 

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month) 

E. NONE 

F. Overtime Report 

Motion carried 7-0 YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall 

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided  comments:

→ Streets - Lonnie Rhoads, Superintendent - none 

→ Fire – Josh Hoselton, Chief - absent 

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent - none 

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – none

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported – 

➢ The new website will go live in the beginning of January. The website will be  updated to a .gov website.

A. Motion by Endres, second by Kinate to approve a quote of $6,905 from Core & Main for  leak detection equipment. Motion carried 6-1 YES- Norris Endres Kinate Hoffman Tipton  Schmidgall NO- Weber 

B. Motion by Kinate, second by Endres to approve a request from Mike White for payment  of $9,400 for concrete work on Chestnut St. Motion carried 7-0 YES- Norris Endres  Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall 

C. Motion by Endres, second by Schmidgall to approve a quote of $3,303 from North  Central Lab for a new lab oven for Wastewater Department. Motion carried 7-0 YES Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

13. Executive Session 

Motion by Norris, second by Kinate to enter Exec Session @ 6:50 p.m. 

A. Personnel – Section 2(c)(1) – Employee hiring, firing, compensation, discipline and  performance.  

Motion by Schmidgall, second by Kinate to enter Open Session @ 7:18 p.m. 

ACTION AFTER EXECUTIVE SESSION 

NONE 

14. Adjournment – Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to adjourn at 7:19 p.m.
