The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams are preparing for the I-55 Invite at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois. The event is set to take place on Saturday, January 18, following a break from competition since early December.
Several athletes from the university have achieved notable rankings nationally. Sophomore Imani Ogunribido has made significant strides by setting a new school record in the women's triple jump with a distance of 12.11 meters, earning her the top mark in Division III this season. Additionally, she ranks 29th in the nation for the 60-meter dash.
In other events, sophomore Ethan Godsey ranks fourth nationally in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.30 meters. Senior Carlyssa King recorded a personal best of 15.97 meters in the women's weight throw, placing her 14th nationally. Matt Lindberg secured the No. 15 spot on the national rankings list for men's high jump with a clearance of 1.95 meters.
Junior Evan Lowder broke his own school record in the men's 300-meter race with a time of 34.60 seconds during their season opener where Illinois Wesleyan claimed nine first-place finishes.
Competing alongside Illinois Wesleyan will be Millikin University, Illinois Institute of Technology, Elmhurst College, Eureka College, Webster University, Wabash College, and Joliet Junior College.
The meet will begin at 11 a.m., and live results will be available online during the event.
