The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams concluded their participation in the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships with notable performances, achieving three All-American finishes. The event took place on March 15 in Rochester, N.Y.
Junior Evan Lowder from Bloomington, Ill., competing for the Green and White, secured first team honors in the 400m race. Lowder completed the race in 48.59 seconds, earning eighth place. This achievement marks him as only the second athlete from his program to reach the podium in the indoor 400m event, adding a third All-America accolade to his career.
Sophomore Imani Ogunribido of Hanover Park, Ill., competed in the women's triple jump. She improved her performance throughout the competition, ultimately recording a best jump of 12.08 meters (39'7.75"), which earned her a tenth-place finish and second team distinction.
Freshman Nick Walker from Metamora, Ill., participated in the men's high jump. As one of four freshmen competitors, Walker matched his career-best mark of 2.05 meters (6'8.75") on his third attempt, securing twelfth place overall during his NCAA debut.
Following these accomplishments at the championships, Illinois Wesleyan's track and field teams will focus on their upcoming outdoor season starting March 29 with two meets: the Redbird Challenge at Illinois State University and the Millikin Big Blue Alumni Invite at Millikin University.
