The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team is set to play against DePauw University on Wednesday, March 26, at Reavis Stadium. The Titans currently hold a record of 5-4 and will face the Tigers, who are at 3-4. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Illinois Wesleyan recently secured a win against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a score of 9-6 on March 23. Junior Anelise DiGiovanni contributed three goals in the victory. Senior Avery Setzler and junior Sadie Newton each collected four ground balls, while Newton also led with six draw controls.

Setzler, along with junior Sarah Riepe and freshman Sophie Shore, each caused three turnovers to bolster the defense. Senior Lizzie Rymarcsuk played in goal, recording 11 saves and contributing two ground balls and one caused turnover.

Newton and Rymarcsuk were recognized by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as Players of the Week following their performances last week. This marks Newton's first accolade as offensive player of the week and Rymarcsuk's second defensive player honor since 2023. Head coach Abby Kushina saw her team achieve its first weekly sweep under her leadership.

Setzler leads the team's offense with 22 points from 17 goals and five assists. Newton follows closely with eight assists among her total points. Junior Carleigh Fountain has scored ten goals with six assists, while senior Mia Fiandaca ranks second in goals scored for IWU.

In terms of draw controls, Newton leads with 39 followed by Fiandaca's 25 and Setzler's 23. Fiandaca also tops the list for ground balls collected at 30, trailed by Setzler’s 28 and Newton’s 26.

Defensively, Fiandaca has forced a team-high number of turnovers at 31 this season. Both Newton and freshman Carly Bajusz have caused thirteen turnovers each.

Rymarcsuk has spent over seven hours guarding IWU’s net this season, amassing a total of seventy-one saves with a save percentage just under fifty percent.

The upcoming match marks the seventh meeting between IWU and DePauw in women’s lacrosse history; both teams have won three games apiece in previous encounters. Last year’s game ended unfavorably for IWU as they lost to DePauw by sixteen points on March sixth.
