On April 13, 2025, Illinois Wesleyan University's women's golf team secured second place at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course despite challenging weather conditions, including thirty-mile-per-hour wind gusts. The team, ranked 18th, achieved a combined score of 617 over the weekend with the contribution of seven players who placed in the top-25 individually.
Sophomore Nora Cerroni and freshman Gigi Zera tied for fourth place, each scoring 153. Senior Jadyn Spinks ended in a tie for eighth place with a score of 155, delivering Illinois Wesleyan's best round of the day with a five-over 77. Additionally, senior Jacque O'Neill concluded within the top-20 scoring 158, while senior Macy Ludwig, junior Brooke Erhard, and sophomore Emily Gastrau all tied for 22nd place each with scores of 160.
Competing against these efforts, No. 10 ranked St. Kate's secured the team title with a score of 607, surpassing Illinois Wesleyan. Other competitors finishing in the top five included Aurora scoring 635, Grinnell scoring 636, and St. Kate's 'B' with 641. St Kate's Kyra Venne achieved medalist honors with an even-par 72.
Moving forward, Illinois Wesleyan's team plans to concentrate on the upcoming NCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championship, scheduled from May 13 to 16 at Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg, Virginia.
