The Illinois Wesleyan men's wrestling team is set to begin its dual meet season by facing the top two teams in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). On Saturday, November 15, Illinois Wesleyan will compete against Millikin University at Griswold Center. Millikin was ranked second in the CCIW preseason coaches poll.
This match marks the Titans' second trip to Decatur this season, following their participation in the Millikin Open last week. During that tournament, junior Austin Johnston won his first two matches in the 141-pound bracket, including a pin against Drake Montelongo of Lindsay Wilson at 5:21. Four newcomers for Illinois Wesleyan also earned their first collegiate victories at the event. Tyson Zvonar secured a win over Millikin's Luke Kawa with an 8-5 decision.
After facing Millikin, Illinois Wesleyan will host North Central College on Monday, November 17, for its first home meet of the season at Shirk Center. North Central is currently ranked tenth nationally and has won 58 consecutive CCIW matches. The Cardinals recently defeated Wheaton College 44-6 in their opening dual match of the year. The meet is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will follow a women's wrestling team event as part of a doubleheader.
