Town of Chatsworth Board of Trustee met Sept. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Official proceedings of the Board of Trustee’s, Town of Chatsworth, held in the Town council room at 7:00PM

Roll call showed the following present: Trustee Price, Nelson, Bell, Schroen, Cavanagh, and Harn. Also, present: President Runyon, Clerk Meyer, Chief Cavanagh, Superintendents Harn and Mogged, Heather Tatro and Attorney Coleman. Absent was Treasurer Dassow.

A motion by Trustee Bell and seconded by Trustee Nelson to approve the agenda. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yeas

A motion by Trustee Schroen and seconded by Trustee Cavanagh to approve the minutes from the previous regular board meeting. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yeas

Correspondence / Public Issues

Chief Cavanagh reported receiving no calls from Vcom last week and since adding a second officer, calls have dropped significantly in the Town. Also informed the Trustees that Officer Dean is on desk duty due to an injury.

Attorney Coleman reported having 2 cases open still from sector 1 and is ready to move forward with the other sectors. Also asked the Board of Trustees for direction on how they would like to proceed with the property at 115 W Walnut, since they are receiving some amount of compliance.

Old Business

President Runyon informed the Trustees we are still 3 years out for the Streetscape; even after approval, and the plans can be changed up until ground break.

New Business

A motion by Trustee Price and seconded by Trustee Harn to approve an annual uniform allowance of $800 for each of our full time Superintendents. Board of Trustee roll call vote: Trustee Price-Yea, Trustee Harn-Yea, Trustee Nelson-Yea, Trustee Schroen-Yea, Trustee Cavanagh-Yea, and Trustee Bell-Nay.

A motion by Trustee Harn and seconded by Trustee Nelson to purchase a new computer for the Clerks office in the amount of $1,835.99. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yeas

A motion by Trustee Harn and seconded by Trustee Cavanagh to approve municipal utility ordinance no. 2023-09-12. Board of Trustee roll call vote: Trustee Harn-Yea, Trustee Cavanagh-Yea, Trustee Price-Yea, Trustee Schroen-Yea, Trustee Bell-Yea, and Trustee Nelson-Yea.

President Runyon reported the Smithsonian exhibit is on display at The Business Connection and everybody should check it out.

Trustee Bell reported needing to have a committee meeting after discussing garbage, personal surveillance, and lawn ordinance violations. Feels the Town of Chatsworth should have an ordinance regarding cameras. After much discussion both him and Trustee Schroen think it’s best we update the garbage ordinance as well.

Trustee Nelson reported Central Illinois Disposal accused somebody at Rick’n’Anitas of damaging the dumpster in which they rent. When in fact, after reviewing the camera footage it was dropped by one of their employees when dumping.

Treasurer Dassow reported not receiving payment from Ace Plastics portion of the water main line and wants direction from the board. Clerk Meyer called and spoke with employee Kay Grissel who informed her the owner was out of town and would be back later that week to sign off on payment.

Superintendent Harn thanked the Trustees for approving the uniform allowance and the ordinance for the municipal rate increase. Also reported communication with master meter hasn’t been great and we received a pallet of 140 meters that weren’t ordered and confused by the direction on weather to send them back etc.

Superintendent Mogged informed the Trustees we received the John Deere tractor back and the hose is fixed. Clerk Meyer thanked the Trustees for the purchase of the new computer.

A motion by Trustee Bell and seconded by Trustee Harn to pay the bills. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yeas

A motion by Trustee Cavanagh and seconded by Trustee Nelson to adjourn the meeting at 7:44PM. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yeas
