The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced its All-Region selections. This comes shortly after the NCAA Division III National Championships qualifiers list was revealed. Three athletes from Illinois Wesleyan University have been recognized for their performances.
Sophomore Evan Lowder, along with freshmen Adam Beasley and Imani Ogunribido, have earned this distinction for the first time in their careers. The criteria for all-region honors require individuals to be among the top-five in each event within their region or part of the region's top-three relay teams.
Evan Lowder achieved all-region status in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes following his impressive results at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships. He secured both conference titles with a 22.12-second run in the 200m, placing him 35th nationally and second in Illinois Wesleyan history. His 400m dash time of 48.47 seconds not only won him the CCIW title but also ranked him 10th in Division III while breaking a school record that stood for 17 years.
Adam Beasley received all-region honors with a high jump clearance of 2.05 meters at the conference championships, becoming just the second CCIW high jump champion from his program. The freshman ranks 12th nationally in this event and tied for third-highest jump ever recorded by his program.
Imani Ogunribido's performance included a leap of 12.07 meters at the conference championships, earning her both a CCIW crown and all-region accolades. Her mark ranks sixth-best in Division III and ties her school's women's program record.
These athletes will compete alongside sophomore Adriana Crabtree as Illinois Wesleyan's representatives at the NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships on March 8-9 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, hosted by Norfolk State University at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
