For the first time in the outdoor season, Evan Lowder of Illinois Wesleyan University's men's track and field team has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon, April 10.
This recognition is a significant milestone for Lowder, a sophomore from Bloomington, Illinois. It follows his remarkable performance in the 400-meter dash at the Huntsman Family Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, April 6. He completed the race in 47.14 seconds, which is recorded as the second-fastest time by any Titan athlete. The school record is held by Matt Harden with a time of 47.02 seconds set in 2007.
Lowder's achievement places him third in Division III for this season and he leads his conference by nearly a full second. Additionally, he holds the second-fastest time in the 200-meter dash with a timing of 22.22 seconds.
The Illinois Wesleyan track and field team will next compete at the Greenville Select in Greenville, Illinois on Saturday, April 13. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by track events starting at 11 a.m.
