Illinois Wesleyan excels on day one at Meet of Champions

The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams began their participation in the Meet of Champions at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. The event took place on Friday, April 19, at the Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex.

Senior Amanda Wilson made a significant impact in her first collegiate 10,000-meter run by leading the race and finishing with a time of 37:09.89. This performance set a new meet record by nearly 17 seconds and ranks as the eighth fastest mark in the program's history. Sophomore Abby Quinn also competed in the same event, securing an eighth-place finish with a time of 42:14.66.

In women's javelin throw events, juniors Caitlin McCane and Jadyn Bothe represented Illinois Wesleyan University. McCane achieved a throw of 28.09 meters to place 13th, while Bothe finished 17th with a mark of 26.56 meters among a field of 36 competitors. Freshman Loreal Tucker participated in the women's discus throw, achieving a distance of 34.50 meters to secure the 20th position out of 42 participants.

On the men's side, junior Nick Fisch completed his first collegiate 10k with a time of 32:45.81, placing him at number eight in IWU program history and earning him the overall position of 26th in this competition category. Senior Josh Tong followed with a time of 34:30.14 for a placement at number 42 out of a total field size comprising fifty-four athletes.

Senior Joshua Klein participated in men's javelin throw and secured the thirty-fifth position with an effort measuring up to twenty-seven point two four meters (89'4").

The Titans will continue their participation tomorrow starting at ten-thirty AM for field events followed by track events scheduled for ten-forty AM local time according to sources from iwusports.com where full meet schedules including live stream links are available online.
