The Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier in Rock Island, Illinois, on May 15. The event saw three IWU athletes compete, with plans for additional participation on May 16.
Junior Ernie Waterson from Bloomington, Illinois, represented IWU on the track. He achieved a personal-best time of 1:51.94 in the men's 800-meter run, placing him 16th among 28 competitors. This performance ranks third in IWU's program history and is currently the 53rd best time in Division III this season.
In field events, junior Carlyssa King from Decatur, Illinois, secured fourth place in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 52.23 meters (171'4"). Sophomore Isaac Whitaker from Bloomington tied for 16th place in the men's pole vault invite section with a clearance of 4.45 meters (14'7.25").
The second day of competition will feature the women's triple jump at 3 p.m., followed by the men's 4-by-400-meter relay at 6:30 p.m.
