Sophomore Evan Lowder from Illinois Wesleyan University secured a place in the NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships 400-meter dash final. Competing on May 24, Lowder achieved the seventh-fastest time in the preliminary rounds.
Lowder, representing Bloomington's Normal Community, took an early lead in his heat. Despite facing a headwind on the backstretch, he maintained pace with Alexander Rhodes of Puget Sound. A strong finish saw Lowder claim second place in his heat with a time of 47.44 seconds, securing his spot in Saturday's final as the seventh-fastest qualifier.
The event continues with junior Carlyssa King participating in the women's hammer throw at 1 p.m. ET, followed by freshman Imani Ogunribido competing in the women's triple jump at 3:45 p.m. ET. The men's 400m final is scheduled for 5:20 p.m. ET.
