Illinois Wesleyan excels at Huntsman Family Invite with eight event victories

The Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Huntsman Family Track and Field Invitational at Wabash College on April 6. The Titans achieved significant results, with eight athletes winning their respective events.

Junior Alex Harvey showcased his talent by winning both the 110-meter hurdles in 15.62 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 56.05 seconds. Freshman Adam Beasley secured victory in the long jump with a leap of 7.07 meters, placing him fourth in IWU's all-time list, while also finishing second in the high jump with a clearance of 2.01 meters.

CJ Ladewig, a junior, achieved a personal best of 51.42 meters to win the hammer throw event, ranking fourth in program history. Sophomore Evan Lowder nearly broke IWU's record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.14 seconds, securing first place and becoming second all-time at IWU.

In other performances, sophomore Isaac Whitaker won the pole vault event with a clearance of 4.45 meters. A relay team consisting of freshmen Reece Dusek, Noah Sadowski, Tyrice Bender, and Alex Harvey finished second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:20.22.

The women's team also performed well, led by junior Carlyssa King who won the hammer throw with a distance of 46.88 meters—fifth best in program history—and freshman Imani Ogunribido who won the triple jump with an effort of 11.64 meters.

Additional noteworthy performances included freshman Loreal Tucker's runner-up finish in discus throw at a personal best mark of 37.36 meters and senior Lauren Wong's second-place finish in triple jump at an impressive mark of 11.05 meters.

IWU will continue its track season next Saturday as they travel to Greenville for another meet.
